Met mijn werk streef ik ernaar om schoonheid te geven, om producten te ontwerpen met een frisse levensvreugde en met verrassende kleur- en vormcombinaties om zo het alledaagse leven te verlichten.

Het manuele is van groot belang. Tekeningen maak ik eerst met pen en inkt, doelgericht of niet. Soms kunnen hieruit ideeën ontstaan om verder uit te werken naar een product. Andere tekeningen blijven tekeningen. Volgt hierop productie, dan probeer ik ook hier – ook in de prototypefase – zo veel mogelijk zelf en nog steeds met de hand uit te voeren. Computers zijn dan een hulpmiddel om technieken uit te testen en ideeën uit te zuiveren, maar het digitale is nooit het uitgangspunt. Tijdens het ontwerpen verkies ik de tekening, waar de hand rechtstreeks vertaalt wat zich afspeelt in mijn hoofd.

Ik beperk me niet tot de wereld van het textiel, maar zoek een bredere invalshoek. Mijn werk moet kunnen leiden tot andere technieken en materialen. Kunstintegraties voor gebouwen of decors voor theater zijn maar enkele van de vele andere mogelijkheden. Het zijn de grondstoffen en de ambachten die telkens weer mijn aandacht trekken.
Het spel met lijnen, kleuren en vorm kan uitmonden in een verrassende en fascinerende wereld. De verbeelding en de verwondering staan aan de bron van deze zoektocht.

Het welzijn van zowel de producerende als de consumerende mens staat centraal. Dat vertaalt zich in een samengaan van duurzaamheid en kwaliteit, in streven naar het eerlijkste productieproces en materialen die zo ethisch mogelijk zijn. Zowel in mijn werk, in de productie als in mijn eigen leven streef ik naar transparantie en eerlijkheid.

Dans mon travail je cherche la beauté, j’essaye de créer des produits avec une joie de vivre et ceci avec de variations de formes et de couleurs, en espérant illuminer la vie de tous les jours.

L’aspect manuel est d’une grande importance. Je dessine d’abord avec plume et encre, sans but précis. Certains de ces dessins donnent des idées à élaborer vers la réalisation d’un produit. D’autres dessins restent tels quels. Alors suit la production, dans la phase du prototype et, là aussi, j’essaye le plus possible de réaliser le produit manuellement. L’ordinateur peut être un outil, une aide, pour expérimenter quelques techniques et épurer certaines idées, mais le digital n’est jamais le point de départ. Quand je crée, je préfère le dessin, où la main traduit directement ce qui se passe dans ma tête.

Je ne veux pas me limiter au monde du textile. Je cherche d’autres horizons, plus larges. Mon travail peut m’emmener vers d’autres matériaux ou techniques. Je pense à des intégrations d’art dans des immeubles ou à des décors de théâtre, deux exemples parmi tant d’autres. J’aime les matières premières et les connaissances artisanales qui en suivent.

Le jeu de linge, de couleurs et de formes peut créer un monde surprenant et fascinant. L’imagination et l’étonnement sont à la source de cette recherche.

Le bien-être du producteur-créateur ainsi que le bien-être du consommateur est primordial. Cela se traduit dans un matériel de qualité en étant soucieux d’un process de production le plus honnête possible et en recherchant le matériel le plus éthique. Aussi bien dans mon travail, dans la production que dans ma vie, je suis à la recherche de transparence et d’honnêteté.

My work reflects a search for beauty, a desire to design products with surprising combinations of color and form that reveal a novel joy of life, ultimately aiming to brighten everyday life.

The manual process takes center stage. Each drawing starts in pen and ink, and might come with a specific endpoint in mind, or not. Sometimes this process gives birth to ideas that are developed into a product. At other times, the drawings just remain drawings. Computers can be an aid to test techniques and purify ideas, yet the digital aspect is never the point of departure. Because my design process relies on drawings, my hand lets me directly channel the world inside my mind.

I do not limit myself to the confines of the world of textiles, and try to explore different terrains. My work has to be free to guide me to other materials and techniques. Art installations that become integral parts of buildings or theatre sets are just a few of the many options. Time and again, these raw materials and different crafts manage to draw my attention.

The game of lines, colors and shapes can feed into a surprising and fascinating world, with imagination and a sense of wonder at the source of this quest.

The wellbeing of both the producing and the consuming human being are key to me. This manifests itself in a fusion of sustainability and quality, in a search for a fair production cycle and ethical materials. Transparency and honesty guide my work, my production process, and my own life.
